Neil Sedaka & Paul Anka italianos

Paul Anka was one of the most successfull international acts in Brazil in 1958, 1959 and 1960 when he visited São Paulo and Rio. Anka was bigger than Elvis Presley... maybe because his hits were more melodic than Elvis's. 

Paul Anka's impressive list of 78 rpm singles which reached Brazilian charts by  himself or in covers done by local acts like Carlos Gonzaga, Celly Campello etc.

Italian press was not very friendly to Paul Anka on his first visit to Rome... they dwelled on the negative sides of his personality emphasizing his imaturity (sucking his thumb) and calling his voice 'strident'. 

1962 was Neil Sedaka's best year in the USA when he had a #1 at the Billboard charts with 'Breaking up is hard to do'. For some unexplained reason Sedaka didn't have a follow up to that mega hit. So in 1963 Sedaka tried to diversify and went to Italy where he spent a lot ot time showing up at popular TV programmes and recording in the Italian language for that specific market. Sedaka's biggest hits in Italian are 'I tuoi capricci' and 'La terza luna'. But he had a few more.
